This was the first time I used CourseSmart, I found it doing research on the cost of my book. I added a course at the last minute and wasn't sure the price on the book. Because I use my laptop for note-taking, it was very convenient to have my entire textbook available with a click of the mouse. Not hauling around the extra textbook made it that much easier to take my laptop. I think that online textbooks are a good, cost-effective alternative to purchasing print textbooks. I thought that the eTextbook is way better then a regular textbook because you can type in a certain subject that you need to find and it will give you all the places in the text where it talks about that. It is a much faster way to find information then flipping through a book.

In the fall of 2007 I returned to school to study elementary and middle school education. I purchased my textbooks on-line at amazon.com because they had lower prices than my college bookstore. After I received my textbooks and a week into the semester I discovered CourseSmart and decided to give it a try. I have purchased and read e-books in the past for their ease of use and their portability. I thought, if there a time when I need portability it's now considering how heavy textbooks are these days. Since I had already purchased my textbooks for the semester, I purchased a duplicate copy of one textbook, my heaviest one, on CourseSmart, which gave me a unique opportunity to compare the two versions. The first thing that jumped out at me was the lower price for the CourseSmart book than for the exact same textbook I had just purchased. Considering the price is about half the cost of the print copy, it's a smart economic choice to make. It's also a smart environmental choice to make (no trees, paper processing, transportation, etc.) The CourseSmart text was also easier to handle than the unwieldy, awkward print version on the text. CourseSmart is a smart choice.

I really enjoyed using CourseSmart for my online Sociology course. It relieved the stress of carrying an extra book that is too heavy for my back. It made it easy to switch back and forth between the screens. I would recommend this method of buying a textbook for anyone who has an online class. The site was a great help. It fit into my budget and to be honest I rarely ever sell my textbooks back anymore because they seem to change so quickly from year to year. How often do we really go back to refer to that material especially when much of is changing. …Keep up the good work and the affordability. I found using Course Smart was a pleasant surprise. The site is very easy to navigate and find my course to complete classwork as assigned. I liked that the price was better than the used price at the student bookstore and I didn't have a heavy book to carry around with me. Although, I cant sell the book back the price was still better than the hassle and discount I would have to give if I had to sell. Why carry around five books when you can carry around one laptop? CourseSmart books cost less and are easier to navigate through. The money you save can be used towards helper manuals, which are also given by CourseSmart. I will continue to use CourseSmart through the rest of my education.
