- How do I create a CourseSmart account?
There is a Create Account link at the top the CourseSmart home page. You will also be presented with the Create Account option when you make your first purchase.
You will fill out and submit a brief form. You will need a valid credit card and working email address. You do not have to be enrolled at a school or university to create a CourseSmart account.

Begin the sign-in process and enter your email address. Click on the "Forgot password?" link and fill in the form that appears. A single-use temporary password will be sent to you by email. You should immediately sign in and change this temporary password to something you like better.

Getting a Refund
To cancel your subscription to an Online eTextbook and receive a refund,
- Sign in to the CourseSmart web site and click the My Account link at the top of the home page.
- On the left-hand side of the My Account page, choose Refunds.
- On the Refunds page you will see a list of your current subscriptions that are eligible for a refund, along with a list of refunds that you have already received. Any title not displayed here is not eligible for a refund.
- Click on the Request Refund link under the title that you want refunded.
- In the pop-up window, read the refund terms and indicate your acceptance by clicking the Complete Refund button.
The title will be removed from your Bookshelf and the refund will be made to the credit card you have on file with CourseSmart. It may take your credit card company a week or more to process the refund.
Returning an Unused Redemption Code
Unused Redemption Codes should be returned to the place where they were purchased. Each web site and bookstore that acts as a CourseSmart partner may have its own return policies, and they will be issuing any refund that you are entitled to.

You can purchase any eTextbook.
To purchase:
- Launch the CourseSmart app on your mobile device.
- Sign in as you do on your computer.
- Click the "Shop" button in the upper right-hand corner.
- Search for your eTextbook by entering the ISBN, book title, or author's name and then clicking the Search button.
- Scroll through the search results that appear and click on the title you want to purchase.
- Click on the "Buy online subscription" button.
- Enter your billing information and click Charge Credit Card.
Unlike making a purchase on the CourseSmart website, when you shop within the app using your mobile device, you can buy only one title at a time. You will have to repeat the process for every title that you want to purchase.

You can read your eTextbook using your iPhone or iPad app. Reading your eTextbooks on the iPhone requires an initial internet connection. However, reading your eTextbook using our iPad app does not require an internet connection.
On either device, touch the title you are interested in on your Bookshelf and it will open. There are several features available: ruler, landscape mode, and pinch & zoom.

Accessing your eTextbooks on the iPhone requires an initial internet connection.

The CourseSmart eTextbook can be accessed from any browser-enabled mobile device or eReader, including a large selection of smartphones that provide Internet access. Furthermore, CourseSmart has developed free apps for the Android devices, iPhone and iPad that supports anytime, anywhere access and enhanced and functionality suitable for the device. These apps can be found by searching "CourseSmart eTextbooks for the iPad" or "eTextbooks for the iPhone" on the iTunes App Store. In the Android marketplace, you can search on "CourseSmart".

Not at this time, however, CourseSmart eTextbooks can be accessed from any browser-enabled mobile device, and CourseSmart does have apps for the Android, iPhone and iPad.

Redemption Codes are your means for obtaining CourseSmart eTextbooks purchased through other web sites or at your campus bookstore. You may also be given a Redemption Code by your school as part of your course registration. The Redemption Code is used on the CourseSmart web site to activate your eTextbook subscription.
The "Redeem Access Code" field is right at the top of the CourseSmart home page. Enter the code in the Enter Redemption Code box at the top of the CourseSmart home page and click the forward arrow. Or you can go directly to www.coursesmart.com/redemption.
If you encountered no error messages as you redeemed your code, the subscription associated with that code will be on your Bookshelf. If you cannot find it, contact CourseSmart customer service.

CourseSmart's affiliated publishers offer electronic educational resources other than eTextbooks study guides, lab manuals, workbooks, animated timelines, electronic texts in non-CourseSmart formats, etc. CourseSmart sells these products for your convenience.
Although you search for and purchase eResources on the CourseSmart web site in the same way that you purchase eTextbooks, you actually go to the web site of the publisher to access and use them.
A product is clearly labeled as an eResource in the CourseSmart catalog, in your Shopping Cart, and on your Bookshelf. The golden logo at the corner of the cover image also indicates an eResource.
Occasionally, an eTextbook and an associated eResource are bundled together and sold as a package.
When you purchase an eResource through CourseSmart, you are actually purchasing an Access Code. With this Access Code in hand, you can go to the web site of the publisher providing the eResource, enter the Access Code, and gain access to the product.
Some eResources also require an Instructor Code. This is a special URL or other ID that you will get from your Instructor. It is used to make sure that you get the eResource that has been specially customized for your particular course. You will be alerted to the need for an Instructor Code, and you can also tell by the green key logo on the cover image.

NOTE: The downloadable eTextbook format is no longer available for purchase. The downloadable was a previous format that CourseSmart offered to give offline access to the eTextbook. CourseSmart has now introduced an offline feature that comes as part of your purchase of your eTextbook.
